Starfield Release Date - When is it and what do you need to know?
So if you plan on playing Starfield via Xbox game pass you will be able to play from the official release date 6th of September, I know, exciting right?
Starfield launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC on September 6, 2023. Pre-order now or play it on day one with Xbox Game Pass.
But, there is a way to play earlier, a full week earlier.
If you are willing to upgrade from the basic edition you may actually get to play Starfield on August 31, but at the very least, you can jump in on September 1.
Everyone else will have to wait for the official release date to roll around.
It was initially going to be in November 2022, but Bethesda announced a Starfield delay in March 2023, pushing the game back until September.
Check out this amazing 45-minute video of what to expect when Starfield launches.
This video deep-dive gave fans an insight as to what they can expect from the game, including what the main mission is, how space combat works, how your character skills can influence the gameplay, and much, much more.
As you can see Starfield is possibly the most ambitious game ever, can Bethesda deliver? time will tell but things are certainly looking good.
As mentioned above Starfield is coming to Xbox Game Pass, which means you’ll get instant access to the Bethesda space epic from day one. Xbox Game Pass subscribers don’t need to pre-order, and like the other games from studios owned by Microsoft, we imagine they’ll be able to pre-load Starfield in the run-up to release.
How big is Starfield?
Todd Howard of Bethesda said, Starfield will run around 30-40 hours for the main story, but as we all know, these Bethesda open-world games are never that simple. With 1,000 planets to explore, including ones in our own galaxy, there won’t be a shortage of things to do.
According to the Starfield official gameplay reveal trailer, there are "over 100 systems" with "over 1,000 planets" which are "all open for you to explore." .
The trailer implies that landing on each of these planets will be an option for your intrepid space explorer. Upon arriving on a new world you can, according to Bethesda, "explore anywhere on the planet," too.
In the 2023 Starfield Direct, Bethesda revealed that because of the "scale of the game", designers had to approach worldbuilding completely differently, using procedural generation to do justice to the game's scale while telling "as many stories as possible."
This suggests that Starfield's total amount of explorable terrestrial area will be immense.
